Biography from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia:
Personable, boyishlooking supporting player and occasional leading man, an experienced stage performer who broke into movies with a sizable part in First Love (1977), then starred in Between the Lines that same year. He proffered an interesting characterization as the obsessive ex-boyfriend of Mary Beth Hurt in Head Over Heels (1979) and took the male lead in Cat People (1982), but has been perhaps more effective in character roles, especially unctuous yuppies and sinister or obstructionist bureaucrats. Audiences may be most familiar with Heard from his supporting turns as Macaulay Culkin's father in Home Alone (1990) and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992). | |
