Biography from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia:
The daughter of actress Carlin Glynn and writer-actor-director Peter Masterson, this spirited performer made her film debut at age 7 as her real-life father's daughter in the chiller The Stepford Wives (1975). Masterson resumed film work in earnest during the mid-1980s, and has offered thoughtful, endearing support in Heaven Help Us (1985), Chances Are, Immediate Family (both 1989, particularly effective in the latter as a young surrogate mother), and in Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), which gave her an outstanding showcase part as a feisty, free-spirited soul. She was especially appealing as the tomboyish drummer in Some Kind of Wonderful (1987). Her other films include At Close Range (1986), Gardens of Stone (1987, with both real-life parents), Mr. North (1988), and Funny About Love (1990). A talented young actress, she could be one of the 1990s' brightest stars. Recent films include Married To It, Benny & Joon, Mad at the Moon (all 1993), Bad Girls and Radioland Murders (both 1994). Her father has directed the films The Trip to Bountiful (1985), Full Moon in Blue Water (1988), and Convicts (1991). | |
