This sweetfaced young boy became the movies' most unexpected superstar when Home Alone (1990), the comic story of an eightyear-old forced to fend for himself, became a runaway smash. He had already appeared in Rocket Gibraltar (1987), Uncle Buck (1989), See You in the Morning (1989), and Jacob's Ladder (1990), and after Home Alone appeared in My Girl (1991). He received an estimated $5 million for Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992), and "starred" in the TV cartoon series "Wish Kid." In 1993 he took a dra- matic turn-and a marketing challenge- by playing an evil child in The Good Son and lent both his name and presence to the ballet movie The Nutcracker The next year he took leads in Getting Even With Dad, The Pagemaster and Ri¢hie Ri¢h (all 1994). His father Kit was also a child actor, and his younger brother Kieran has appeared in several films, including the remake of Father of the Bride (1991) and Nowhere to Run (1993).
