Actor best known as Nigel Tufnel of the rock group Spinal Tap-introduced in the mock-rockumentary This Is Spinal Tap (1984)-who is proud of his amp system that goes all the way to "eleven." A comedy writer and performer who shone on National Lampoon's 1970s radio series (and record albums), Guest has had too few opportunities since then to showcase his considerable talents. He has taken dramatic and comedic roles on TV and in films like Death Wish (1974, a bit part as a cop), Girlfriends (1978), The Long Rid- ers (1980, with his brother Nicholas), Lit- tle Shop of Horrors (1986), The Princess Bride (1987, in which he patterned his elegant villainy-and voice-after character actor Henry Daniell), Beyond Therapy (1987), Sticky Fingers (1988), and A Few Good Men (1992), directed by longtime friend Rob Reiner, for whom he also worked behind the camera on the TV sitcom "Morton and Hayes" (1992). He starred for a season on "Saturday Night Live" (1984-85), cowrote and directed the Hollywood satire The Big Picture (1989), and directed the TV remake of Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman (1993). He is married to Jamie Lee Curtis. |  |
