Biography from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia:
Attractive, wholesomelooking, husky-voiced stage actress who has made occasional screen appearances. Despite having leading roles in such films as Lovin' Molly (1974) and Futureworld (1976), Danner has usually been relegated to standard supporting roles to which she brings considerable skill and charm. The patient, long-suffering wife is a Danner specialty, and two of her best roles along this line came in adaptations of Pat Conroy novels, The Great Santini (1979) and The Prince of Tides (1991). She costarred with fellow 1776 player Ken Howard in the 1973 TV series "Adam's Rib," and also appeared in the later series "Tattinger's" (1988) and "Nick and Hillary" (1989). She played the troubled Zelda Fitzgerald in a 1974 telefilm, F. Scott Fitzgerald and "The Last of the Belles." Danner's husband is TV producer Bruce Paltrow; their daughter Gwyneth is an actress whose credits include Flesh and Bone (1993), Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle (1994), and Seven (1995).
