Has two daughters by actor Rip Torn
Biography from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia:
Wide-eyed, plain-looking, and placid, Wright usually impresses as the type of girl shunned by her classmates and always picked last for any team. As befitting her appearance and demeanor, she has made a specialty of playing twisted waifs. A stage veteran, she started her movie career in Not a Pretty Picture (1975), and went on to The Deer Hunter, Girlfriends (both 1978), Breaking Away, The Amityville Horror, Heartland (all 1979), and Inside Moves (1980). Wright was the perfect embodiment of a character created by Flannery O'Connor in John Huston's 1979 adaptation of Wise Blood and she had an inspired bit in Woody Allen's Stardust Memories (1980), playing a creepy groupie. Offscreen for much of the 1980s, she resumed her movie career with a vengeance late in the decade, rounding out William Hurt's eccentric family in The Accidental Tourist (1988), and essaying her usual sensitive, slightly off-center characterizations in Off Beat (1986), Crossing Delancey, The Telephone (both 1988), Miss Firecracker (1989), EB>. Who's Got the Will?, Love Hurts (both 1990), Deceived, Hard Promises (both 1991), and Where The River Flows North (1994). She has had two children by actor Rip Torn, with whom she lives.
