Diane Venora has a remarkable relationship with Shakespeare's Hamlet. She played Gertrude with Ethan Hawke's Hamlet in the film in 2000. In 1990, she played Ophelia opposite Kevin Kline's Hamlet. And in the 80s she appeared onstage at the Public Theatre under the direction of Joseph Papp in the title role.
