A small drama when you consider the subject matter, but here they concentrate on the personalities, not the pageantry. Top notch performances by the entire cast.

Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: |
Brilliant, fierce, and personal drama (adapted by James Goldman from his play) of Henry II deliberating over a successor on fateful Christmas Eve. Hepburn co-won Best Actress Oscar for her strong performance as Eleanor of Aquitaine. Oscars also went to Goldman and composer John Barry. Film debuts of Hopkins and Dalton. O'Toole also played Henry II in BECKET. Panavision.
