Creepy, but very well done movie. Much of this is shot in extreme close-up, giving the actors a real chance to work, and they do. Reeves and Thurman are not as bad as they usually are. Close, Malkovich and Pfeiffer are wonderful.

Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: |
In 18th-century France, an unscrupulous woman manipulates the lives of those around her, just for amusement, with the help of a like-minded count. Excellent adaptation of Christopher Hampton's play Les Liaisons Dangereuses, based on the famous period novel. Close is magnificent, Malkovich good (though miscast). Hampton's screenplay won an Oscar, as did the art direction and costumes. Same story filmed before in 1959 (as DANGEROUS LIAISONS 1960) and again in 1989 (as VALMONT).

the only thing I didn't like about this movie was Kenau Revees. he killed it for me! Glenn was awsome as the coniving B****, John was a masterpiece,as usual, and Michelle was awesome too...but Keanu just sucked with his california accent in france in the 1800's.
