Visully startlying, great performances, but does not quite come together. I wanted to like this picture alot more that I could. Maybe it gets just too wierd.

Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: |
Self-important N. Y. playwright Turturro comes to Hollywood in 1941 to write a screenplay, and finds it a living hell--in more ways than one. Barbed look at vintage Hollywood, filled with incredible detail and amazing scenes; told in Joel and Ethan Coen's typically flamboyant visual style. BUT, at a crucial point the film takes a sharp left turn toward the bizarre, and never returns. Great performances all around.
