Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: |
Ordinary guy goes through a series of bizarre experiences during one incredible night in N. Y. C. How much you enjoy this comic nightmare will depend on how closely you identify with Dunne--the only normal person in the picture!

This is a terrific film. The theme of rules, violation, guilt, and punishment are woven into an intricate structure, and lines of dialogue of often carry dual meaning depending on whether one views them within the frame of the immediate scene or within the frame of the thematic structure — but in a clever, not hamfisted, way. It's a genuinely Kafkaesque comedy, with numerous performances as smart as the script.
