Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: |
Endearing story of Italian immigrant brothers trying to survive as restaurateurs in 1950s America; one is an artist in the kitchen, the other a would-be businessman. Their bombastic rival (Holm) gives them a shot at the brass ring by inviting Louis Prima to be their guest one night. Finely tuned performances, amusing vignettes and observations make this small endeavor worthwhile, but it's too slow and quiet for its own good. Tucci also coscripted; codirector Scott has a small but funny part as a Cadillac salesman. The feast on-screen is mouthwatering!
