Mine: |
A workman like production of what is one of my favorite musicals. I saw this once in Boston before it opened on Broadway and twice on Broadway, as a result the movie version feels distant and somewhat emotionally cold. Part of that is the difference in medium, partly it is some flat acting and uninteresting direction. Beyonce looks good, but is not up to the acting required. Murphy is good as Early and Foxx is also good. Hudson can sing, but again the acting is flat.
