Low-key, off-center comedy about an aging safecracker who takes on a young protégé who's got a lot to learn about life, as well as his new profession. John Sayles' script, as interpreted by director Forsyth, is inventive and often quite funny... but not enough to keep this wispy film afloat. Reynolds is extremely good in his first character role.
