Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: |
Colorful version of Shakespeare's romp is well served by Richard and Elizabeth, good supporting cast, lovely photography, and fine musical score by Nino Rota. Shakespeare purists may object, but Zeffirelli has succeeded in making a film instead of a photographed stage play. Scripted by Suso Cecchi d'Amico, Paul Dehn, and Zeffirelli. Filmed before in 1929 with another famous acting couple, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. Panavision.
