Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: |
Surprisingly good sequel, with Perkins in a wonderfully canny reprise of his role as Norman Bates--now being released from asylum, supposedly rehabilitated, returning to his mother's creaky old mansion. Director Franklin builds some terrific suspense scenes, without that trendy 80s gore, but finally goes for graphic violence toward the end, and tacks on a silly conclusion, undermining an otherwise first-rate shocker.
