Great! A classic in the best sense of the word. The best live action film the Disney studios ever made.

Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: |
There's charm, wit, and movie magic to spare in Walt Disney's adaptation of P. L. Travers's book about a ``practically perfect'' nanny who brings profound change to the Banks family of London, circa 1910. Oscars went to Richard and Robert Sherman for their tuneful score, the song ``Chim-Chim-Cheree,'' the formidable Visual Effects team, Cotton Warburton for his editing, and Andrews, in her film debut (though Van Dyke is equally good as Bert, the whimsical jack of all trades). That's Jane Darwell, in her last screen appearance, as the bird lady. A wonderful movie. Scripted by coproducer Bill Walsh and Donald Da Gradi.

The Girl from Denmark's rating:
(out of 5 stars) |
This is a spectacular movie! No wonder that it has achieved so many Oscars, including one for Best Actress, Julie Andrews (which she has definitely earned!), and for Best song, Chim-Chim-Che-ree. The movie is a great movie to show for adults as well as children, because it allows you to fly away with Mary Poppins. If you love musicals, and movies with a great sense of humor, you will definitely adore Mary Poppins!
