Pretty, but not very good. For top notch Don Bluth entertainment rent "The Secret of Nimh".
Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis:
Bluth's colorful animation is only saving grace of this downbeat musical cartoon about an orphan ``adopted'' by an unlovable mutt (Reynolds) who has returned from heaven to do a good deed. Misguided film has some good moments (a musical sequence with a Cajun alligator), but hurt by unappealing characters, confused storytelling, and forgettable songs. Followed by a sequel and an animated TV series.
