When this physically imposing, authoritative black actor is on the screen, it's hard not to watch his every move. He's forceful and dynamic, and usually gets roles that allow him to display those attributes. He comes from a New York stage background, having played on Broadway in "The Great White Hope." Kotto made his big-screen debut in 1964's Nothing But a Man and has appeared in dozens of movies since. He's best remembered for his turns in the 1973 James Bond entry Live and Let Die and in 1979's Alien (suffering a grisly fate). He is a regular on TV's "Homicide: Life on the Streets" (1993-), and appeared in the television movie of Arthur Miller's The American Clock (1993). | |
