Studied acting at The Beverly Hills Playhouse.
Son of John Forsythe (I).
Biography from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia:
Tubby, wall-eyed, gap-toothed character actor most often seen as over-the-top characters, both comic and serious, in such films as Once Upon a Time in America, Cloak & Dagger (both 1984), Extreme Prejudice, Raising Arizona (both 1987), Dead-Bang (1989, as a hilariously stiff-shirted FBI agent), Dick Tracy (1990, as Flattop), Stone Cold, Career Opportunities and Out for Justice (all 1991). Forsythe's physical makeup mitigates against his being assigned lead roles, but he seems perfectly comfortable-and attracts plenty of attention-in the offbeat parts. The year 1992 saw him in his finest (and largest) film role to date, playing one of three wheelchair-bound leads in the comedy-drama The Waterdance Later that year he debuted as Prohibition-era gangster Al Capone in a new TV series version of "The Untouchables." | |
