Height 5' 4" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Spouse Paul Schrader (1983 - ?); 1 daughter William Hurt (1971 - 1981) (divorced) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Biography from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia:
This pretty, diminutive, highly acclaimed stage performer-like many of her theaterseasoned contemporaries-hasn't had the greatest opportunities presented to her in film, but has nonetheless impressed with a string of capable portrayals. Debuting in Woody Allen's dour Interiors (1978), Hurt first raised eyebrows as Helen, the loving but wandering wife, in The World According to Garp (1982). She's held her own in movies of otherwise dubious merit, such as D.A.R.Y.L (1985), Parents and Slaves of New York (both 1989). Hurt enjoyed one of her best screen opportunities as a spurned wife in 1991's Defenseless Divorced from actor William Hurt, she is now married to screenwriter-director Paul Schrader. Her other films includeHead Over Heels/Chilly Scenes of Winter (1979) and Compromising Positions (1985). She was seen on TV in the comedy "Tattinger's" (aka "Nick and Hillary") from 1988-89 and "Working It Out" (1990). Recent credits include My Boyfriend's Back, The Age of Innocence, Six Degrees of Separation and Shimmer (all 1993). | |
