Ally Sheedy Scroll down for movie list. Biography from Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia:
Actress. (b. June 13, 1962, New York City.) A Brat Packer made good, this spunky, attractive actress debuted as Sean Penn's girlfriend in Bad Boys (1983), was paired with Matthew Broderick in the hit WarGames that same year, and won major attention as the morbid nonconformist in The Breakfast Club (1985), before doing postgraduate work in the brat-pack-faces-life saga St. Elmo's Fire (1985). But her unpredictably uneven performances-ranging from vacuous Valley-speak renditions in Short Circuit and Blue City (both 1986) to endearing comic turns in Maid to Order (1987) and Betsy's Wedding (1990)-have kept critics on guard. The precocious Sheedy wrote a children's book at age 12 and published a more recent collection of confessional poetry. Other credits include Oxford Blues (1984), Twice in a Lifetime (1985), Heart of Dixie (1989), Only the Lonely (1991), Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992, a cameo) Chantilly Lace (1993 telefilm), The Pickle (1993, a cameo), and Man's Best Friend (also 1993). | |
